Beltane is one of the most major Sabbats (or solar celebrations) of the Wiccan Wheel of the Year. Sitting halfway between the Spring Equinox and Summer Solstice, Beltane marks the power of the Spring at its greatest heights. The abundance of the earth begins to show – flowers, crops, relationships and all good things make their way to us at this time of year!
Beltane is traditionally associated with the union of the male and female and was a traditional period for marriages and hand fasting. The fertility that is enjoyed at this time of the year comes as a result of the union of male and female. Traditionally, this was a time where purification and protection rituals were conducted to ensure that the fruits of our labours would remain pure.
Beltane was also a very magickal time when the nature spirits were most easily seen and were said to bless us with the abundance that we pray for. As one of the times when the veil was at its thinnest, the legends of fairies and other elemental beings visiting us at this time are in abundance.
As the time of union, fertility and purification, the MMS Toronto Wicca Community would like to invite you to celebrate the height of Spring with us in ceremony!
