HELPING HAVEN

 Summer barbecue season — a time for sunlight, joy, community and coming together! Haven Toronto organized exactly that with the funds raised and delivered by the Modern Mystery School and the 2nd Annual Team Light 8K Run.  MMS began contributing to Haven and their outreach to elder and unhoused men in Toronto area in 2023 by supporting their dental hygiene program, their barbering program, as well as providing essential personal supplies for the men in need.

“We are happy to get to support any of the initiatives that Haven is working on.  We know how important community is. We know how important dignity is for the men,” Ipsissima Franca Lanyon said.

In April, Ipsissima Franca spearheaded the team of initiates from Canada and the US, ran together in High Park — over 60 people strong — and raised over $22,000 for the Parkdale Community Foodbank! But that wasn’t it. This same team was also collecting donations for Haven specifically and raised over $6000, which gets to contribute to special events like a summer barbecue. 

Sovereign Ipsissimus Dave and Ipsissima Franca Lanyon together contributed once again another $20,000 to ensure the dental hygiene program continued into 2024. Sovereign Ipsissimus Dave is always encouraging the international student base of the MMS to work as a team and help those in need in their local communities. 

“This is a testament to the power of collective effort and the difference we can make when we come together for the Light,” as Sovereign Ipsissimus Dave says.
